I was watching a program on my laptop it said i needed to restart for updates to be installed, i did this and when it came back on the volume wouldn't work, there is a red x on the volume button when i put my scroller over it it says "no audio output device installed".. Device manager, sound... shows intel (r) display audio. the properties for this say the device is working properly and when i attempted an update it reported that the best driver for this device is already installed.. In device manager, double-click the audio device then click enable to enable the device. if this method doesn't work, try other methods. to fix no audio output device is installed problem, try to re-enable the device.. 2. go to device manager and deinstall all audio devices (also hidden devices) (you should see no more option for audio devices on device manager) 3. reboot 4. install soc chipset driver from asus (select win 8.1 32bit, works for win10) ( because i have an acer i went to their website to find the chipset driver and audio driver which was realtek.. A ' no audio device is installed ' or ' no audio output device is installed ' message displays and no sound plays. enable the audio device in windows 10 and 8 run automated tools and check driver status to enable the device in windows 10 or 8..
